Products to Treat or Cure Disease

Pharmaceuticals are therapeutic products that have been developed to treat, cure or mitigate a disease and for restoring, correcting or modifying organic functions. There are various classes of pharmaceutical drugs, such as analgesics for the treatment of pain, antibiotics for inhibiting bacteria and germ growth, antiseptics for the prevention of bacteria or germ growth around burns, cuts and wounds, or mood stabilizers for cognitive benefits.

Unlike nutraceutical products, pharmaceuticals need to go through very robust drug development programs to prove the safety, efficacy and consistent manufacturing capability to produce the same drug with the same reported effect each and every time. These products are controlled by a federal regulatory agency such as the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) the EMA (European Medicines Agency) or APVMA (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority).

CannPal is researching and developing specific plant based compounds, such as cannabinoids, with the hopes to provide veterinarians with better access to high quality, standardized and efficacious therapeutic products to treat companion animals in a safer way, where other medications may not be desirable as a result of side effects.
